One of the most common knee injuries are injuries related to meniscus. All Island Orthopaedics physicians are specializing in miniscus surgeries. There are two general types of meniscus injuries, acute tears that are often the result of trauma or a sports injury and chronic or wear-and-tear type tears. Acute tears have many different shapes and sizes and are usually treated with surgery. Chronic Tears, on the other hand, are treated symptomatically, with physical therapy with or without the addition of injections and anti-inflammatory medications.
